Our Elders have decided it is time to get new hymnals to replace the growing number of worn hymnals in our pews. So they charged our church council with coming up with a source of funds to purchase the Lutheran Service Book, I must say that I am excited with the change as I have long wanted to move a way from Lutheran Worship and its clunky set up. Besides, for some strange reason I am oddly drawn to the Maroon cover.

Many LCMS congregations have had a lot of success raising funds to purchase the new hymnal simply to offering members in the congregation the chance to sponsor copies in thanksgiving to God and in honor or, or in memory of, special persons and events in their lives.
Blessings.
That is partly how we are planning to raise the funds for purchasing the hymnals. We started this weekend presenting to the congregation the opportunity to give. I am confident we can raise the funds for the purchase.
We are planning on doing that, too (provided it gets approved by the voters in September). However, we've had two members in our congregations who were holding on to memorial gift funds who have eagerly offered to have those funds used for that. So, contacting relatives of dearly deceased who've wanted to contribute to something in the name of their relatives is a good possibility, too.
