Played a wide range of music (including the underground or harder stuff) and also played local bands (Like Sixpence None The Richer before they went big.) I miss that.

In the car I usually listen to lectures on my mp3 (Covenant Worldwide and Berkeley are great for lectures!) or Moody Radio for the Heart of Florida, which I'm sure you can hear with the older DJ voice that announces it. Okay, so no headbanging there, but they do play decent hymns from time to time and very little Jesus-is-my-girlfriend music.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7024052508755907865.post-74985990092886515132007-10-10T21:31:00.000-04:002007-10-10T21:31:00.000-04:00ah yes ... remember when composers like J.S. Unlike, the drivel played on the Christian stations today, it is pleasing to the ears and it has a good strong proclamation of the Gospel, not this lame I want to be with you, whoever you are, pop.

The next thing they need to do is get rid of the sappy talking heads who sit behind the mikes.Dr. Luther in the 21st Centuryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07721847446086170082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7024052508755907865.post-13585510920550377052007-10-09T23:08:00.000-04:002007-10-09T23:08:00.000-04:00I totally understand what you mean about the music...I totally understand what you mean about the music, and much of the content, on Christian radio. This modern contemporary music is boring as all heck. But for some reason, just because I'm Christian, I'm supposed to like it.

Good Christian music to me would span many ages, from ancient to gospel country and rock. But the contemporary variety makes me want to take drugs or something. Might as well go completely numb!Lutheran Lucciolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06207851105681940388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7024052508755907865.post-56468470531073354632007-10-09T22:35:00.000-04:002007-10-09T22:35:00.000-04:00I'll be honest it is hard to take anybody who post...I'll be honest it is hard to take anybody who posts a contrary opinion anonymously seriously.

They are trying but not succeeding and when it comes to talking about God, there is do or do not; there is no try.

Singing about God? Maybe, most of it is indistinguishable from the vapid love songs of secular pop. The only reason most people guess they are singing about God is the artist claims to be Christian.

Maybe, people need to start holding musicians and stations to higher level of standards, instead of settling for things that make us feel vaguely good. I like happy songs myself but if they want to call it Christian maybe they ought to actually make it clear who they are talking about rather than the vague "you" most of them are singing about. And before anyone throws around the well why don't you write your own, I am.

Actually, I have looked into my own station, problem is, I don't have a couple million to spend. Nor do I have the backing of thousands of people satisfied with cookie cutter meaningless songs.Dr. Luther in the 21st Centuryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07721847446086170082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7024052508755907865.post-54380789319188619342007-10-09T21:01:00.000-04:002007-10-09T21:01:00.000-04:00Well, I feel sorry for you that your so angry at s...Well, I feel sorry for you that your so angry at something that is trying to be positive for most people.. I love a more up beat, rock type of music myself but, just the fact that i hear someone singing so beautifully about God and hope for this world makes me smile.. and love it for the message!! You know instead of complaining about it you should look into making your own Christian station, instead of being so negative towards others... GooD LUcK!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
